ACHP Welcomes New Member Health Alliance

Washington, D.C. (June 28, 2017) – The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) is growing its network of nonprofit, community-based, provider-aligned health plans. The organization announced that Health Alliance Medical Plans, the Carle Health System provider-driven health plan, has joined ACHP as its newest member.

Established in 1980 by Carle physicians in Urbana, Ill., Health Alliance is ranked among top-performers by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and has a member-retention rate of more than 90 percent. The health plan is also ranked highest for member satisfaction by JD Power in the Illinois-Indiana region. Health Alliance serves members in five states through partnerships with health care systems and providers who share Carle’s philosophy of delivering accessible, affordable, world-class care in the right place and at the right time. ACHP looks forward to working with Health Alliance to spread innovative ideas in affordability and quality of care.

“At this critical time in the national health care debate, we are thrilled to have Health Alliance join ACHP,” said ACHP President and CEO Ceci Connolly. “Their history of quality coverage and exceptional customer service, as well as their focus on population health, will further ACHP’s mission to improve the health of the communities we serve and actively lead the transformation of health care.”

“ACHP has given a voice to provider-driven health plans in national health policy development,” said James C. Leonard, MD, CEO of Health Alliance and President and CEO of the Carle system. “We’re eager to collaborate with ACHP and like-minded health plans and health systems. We believe this model of alignment between providers and payer is the most effective for ensuring quality outcomes, affordability and an excellent experience.”

Stephanie Beever, Chief Strategy Officer for Health Alliance and the Carle health system, will serve on the ACHP Board of Directors.
