Urbana, Ill. – Following prior announcements, Carle Health shared today they have concluded their comprehensive strategic and financial analysis and that Health Alliance and FirstCarolinaCare will exit all lines of business—including Medicare Advantage—by Dec. 31, 2025. This decision reflects the challenges facing provider-owned health plans in the current insurance and economic environment.
On February 21, 2024, Change Healthcare became aware of a cybersecurity incident. On March 7, Change Healthcare confirmed that data had been taken from its system between February 17 and February 20. This incident affected many organizations in the healthcare industry. Since that time, we’ve been in active communication with Change Healthcare to understand the nature and extent of the incident thoroughly. We aggressively explored alternatives for claims submission and payment and have since moved these processes to other vendors.
