Change Healthcare (Update, June 28, 2024)

On February 21, 2024, Change Healthcare became aware of a cybersecurity incident. On March 7, Change Healthcare confirmed that data had been taken from its system between February 17 and February 20. This incident affected many organizations in the healthcare industry. Since that time, we’ve been in active communication with Change Healthcare to understand the nature and extent of the incident thoroughly. We aggressively explored alternatives for claims submission and payment and have since moved these processes to other vendors.

Change Healthcare issued a press release indicating that personal information was accessed in the cyberattack. Change Healthcare’s data review is now in its late stages and Change Healthcare has determined that our health plan members’ protected health information (PHI) may have been affected by the incident. Change Healthcare will begin notifying our members whose data has been affected in late July. You can find the official notice of this data breach at  https://www.changehealthcare.com/hipaa-substitute-notice.

Change Healthcare continues to provide support and protection for impacted members. Given that Health Alliance has used Change Healthcare’s services, we recommend that all members get more information on these services. Services are available at http://ChangeCyberSupport.com or by calling the Change Healthcare Customer Service line at (866) 262-5342.
